Introduction and Philosophy:
My name is Katie Douglas and I am the Media Specialist at Hurlock Elementary School. This portfolio was developed to evaluate my completion of the Towson University School Library Media Program. Throughout this program I have developed a philosophy of teaching in the school library. Along this journey through classes I have become the mother of two wonderful boys who have inspired me every step of the way. They have also help shaped my philosophy.
I believe that each child has unique experiences, interests, and learning styles. My goal is to truly know my students and use this knowledge to guide, support, and motivate him or her. I believe that good teaching requires continual professional development, personal reflection and collaboration. My media program has been designed to support the educational goals and objectives of the school system. The program provides an organized collection of print materials, non-print materials, and technology as well as the services and integration of instruction necessary for their use and enjoyment.
